Jamie Carragher Calls His Mum Live on CBS Coverage in Wholesome Moment

Jamie Carragher rang his mum, Paula, during CBS Sports' coverage of Wednesday's Champions League action.

Jamie Carragher made a phone call to his mum while live on CBS Sports in a wholesome exchange following last night's Champions League action.

Liverpool, Newcastle United and Barcelona secured big wins on Wednesday, beating Marseille, PSV Eindhoven and Slavia Prague respectively.

Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Juventus also picked up victories as they aim to advance to the knockout stage.

The CBS Sports crew of Kate Scott, Thierry Henry, Micah Richards as well as Carragher were on hand to provide expert analysis on all the games.

But there was also time for the Liverpool legend to have a conversation with his mum.

After Liverpool's victory over Marseille, Carragher's mum texted him about the result.

He was urged to read it out on the broadcast, with the text reading: "Oh my god! What a win. Been the theatre with Angela, just seen the score... made up."

Carragher texted his mum back before Richards told his colleague to ring her.

"You've got to ring her," said Richards, who added: "Let me ring her."

To which Carrager hilariously replied: "She wouldn't know who 'Big Meeks' is."

Paula answered and referred to her son as 'James' before speaking about Liverpool's big win in France, revealing she had been at the theatre to watch the 'Scouse Scrooge'.

Richards then got on the phone and started a conversation with Paula, who burst into laughter after discovering they were on American television.

Henry then chimed in: "Hello mummy, how are you?"

Paula addressed Henry's greeting by butchering his name, calling him 'Tiari', sending the panel into a fit of laughter.

Her friend, Angela, then got on the line and revealed they had some bevvies at the theatre.

She signed off: "Good night, America."

After Carragher ended the call, Scott, Henry and Richards delivered a round of applause, ending a wholesome moment.

Liverpool, meanwhile, moved to fourth place in the Champions League standings, with 15 points on the board, having won five of their seven European fixtures this season.

They are primed to finish in the top eight, which would mean automatic qualification to the next round of the competition.

The Reds face Qarabag next Wednesday in their final Champions League group phase game.
