Bayern Munich are among the favourites for this season's Champions League and winning their group at a canter showed only the very best sides have a chance of rivalling them.

The German giants of course landed England captain Harry Kane over the summer after his departure from Tottenham Hotspur, and his 25 goals in 22 games so far in all competitions ensures they will be in the conversation to win the top prizes this season.

Bayern were in Group A in the Champions League and had a near 100% record as they took on FC Copenhagen, Galatasaray and Manchester United.

And the Bavarian side were unbeaten, winning five and drawing one of their six group matches as they finished top by eight points.

As we know, United finished bottom of that group and were beaten by Bayern both home and away and crashed out of Europe altogether.

But Bayern marched on into the last 16 stage and have been drawn against Italian side Lazio, while group runners-up Copenhagen face European champions Manchester City.

The bookies have Treble winners City as favourites for this season's crown, while Bayern are close behind them in the standings to become the 2024 winners of the competition.

Bayern attacker Jamal Musiala has been asked for his verdict on which sides he feels could prove to be competition for the Bavarians for the famous trophy as they aim to win it for the seventh time.

And the attacker has named three teams as challengers, including two English sides.

Musiala believes Arsenal, City and also Spanish giants Real Madrid, who now have Jude Bellingham in their ranks and whom he is happy to see doing well after their time together in the England youth set-up, as the trio of teams who are the Champions League favourites along with Bayern.

Speaking to German publication Abendzeitung, he said: "Real Madrid and Manchester City. But Arsenal are also playing very good football under Mikel Arteta."

On Bellingham, he added: "I'm happy that some experts see that in me and Jude. That's special with Jude. We are friends and were roommates with the Young Lions, now he's playing at Real Madrid and I'm playing at Bayern - it's crazy.

"Jude is currently doing very well at Real Madrid and I'm happy for him. Generally speaking, individual awards are very linked to the team's success. If you win many titles with your club and national team, your chances of winning individual awards increase."

Should Bayern face either of these three sides at some stage of this season's Champions League, they will be quite some matches.
