A highly-rated teenager from Brazil has become a viral sensation after scoring a "mathematically perfect" Panenka for Sport Recife in their Copinha clash against América-RN.
One of the big talking points from the world of football this month has been Brahim Diaz's disastrous Panenka during Morocco's defeat to Senegal in the controversy-filled Africa Cup of Nations final.
Diaz had the chance to equalise for hosts Morocco in the dying moments of normal time but after a lengthy break, he squandered the chance to make it 1-1 after his tame effort was easily saved by Edouard Mendy.
The Panenka has continued to grab headlines in recent days, with Colo Colo's Cristian Zavala trying and failing to produce a successful Panenka in their game against Penarol on Thursday night.

But the difficult technique has been perfected in the past.
In fact, 16-year-old forward Joao Henrique scored a "mathematically perfect" Panenka during a penalty shootout defeat against América-RN in the 2026 Sao Paulo Junior Football Cup, also known as the Copinha.
Earlier this month, the teenager managed to float a delicate chip down the middle to put his side in the ascendancy.
It was a touch of brilliance from Henrique, who scored the equaliser to take it to penalties, and TikTok user Lukegerr proceeded to create a detailed breakdown of the "mathematically perfect" goal on his channel.
"This might be the first ever mathematically perfect Panenka," he said. "Once you see the physics, you'll understand why it may never happen again."
Luke explains that the ball rarely goes above the crossbar line before dropping into the back of the net.
"The moment I saw this, I knew it was different. From 12 yards out, that's nearly impossible. A Panenka works by striking under the ball, lifting it upward instead of driving it forward. The problem is, they're not normally linked.
"The higher you kick it, the further it goes. Zinedine Zidane's (in the 2006 World Cup final) is about as high as you can normally get. When the ball hits the bar, it's still rising. Any more height, and it either hits the bar and misses, or goes over the goal entirely."
Luke added: "To get it fully over the bar and still score, speed, angle, and the balance between lift and distance have to line up in a way we've never seen before."

Sport Recife were eventually knocked out of the Copinha after losing 7-6 on penalties, but fans found consolation in the brilliance of Henrique, who is being tipped as one of the club's top prospects.
