Matheus Doria scored a contender for the Puskas Award on Sunday as Atlas de Guadalajara completed a remarkable second-half comeback in their Liga MX clash against Club Tijuana.

It was a night to remember at the Estadio Caliente.

With 53 minutes on the clock, it looked like Club Tijuana were heading for an easy three points in the Clausura after goals from Jose Murillo, Jhojan Julio and Jesus Grijalva gave them a commanding 3-0 lead.

But with an hour played in Mexico's 27th largest city, the momentum changed completely when Brazilian defender Matheus Doria netted an incredibly rare Standing Scorpion Kick to claw one back for the visitors.

As you can see from the footage below, Gustavo Del Prete whipped in a perfectly-weighted corner into the penalty area before Doria flicked out his left boot to connect with the in-swinging cross.

Doria barely celebrated his goal, with some suggesting that he was merely shocked by his acrobatic efforts.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the goal.

One said: "Give him the Puskas award now," while another wrote: "Oh my god. What's even better is that this finish started a 3-0 down comeback win."

A third commented: "The #LigaMX already has two competitors for the Puskas award. Not since the first award ceremony in the 2008/09 season has a goal scored in Mexican soccer been in the top 3 of the Puskas awards. Lizbeth Ovalle and Doria should be among the nominees."

A fourth said: "I don't know, I propose the name 'ballerina's goal'. It's more elegant and reflects the movement better," and a fifth added: "After this you have to close the stadium, turn off the lights and leave. My god, what a great goal he scored, you rarely see something like that."

After being inspired by Doria'a goal on the hour mark, Atlas went on to secure their most dramatic win of the season as Serbian striker Uros Djurdjevic netted an 18-minute hat-trick to make it 4-3.

Atlas are currently 13th in the league table with three wins from a possible 11, while Club Tijuana sit bottom on seven points.
