Vincent Kompany is on the verge of becoming the new Bayern Munich manager and fans are only just realising who his assistant will be.

The Bavarian outfit have suffered a number of set-backs in their hunt for a new manager, even attempting to convince Thomas Tuchel to stay on beyond this season but failing to do so.

Pursuits for Julian Nagelsmann, Xabi Alonso, Ralf Rangnick and Oliver Glasner were all unsuccessful but then Kompany emerged as a leading candidate.

Despite suffering relegation with Burnley in his first season managing in the Premier League, Kompany could now be Bayern manager by the end of the week.

He is set to take his third job as a manager, having started out as a player-manager of boyhood club Anderlecht.

A compensation package has been discussed given Kompany's Burnley deal runs until 2028, but a deal is believed to be close.

According to Mike McGrath from The Telegraph, Kompany is looking to bring his backroom staff with him to the Allianz Arena.

His team includes first-team coaches Mike Jackson, Piet Cremers and Floribert N'Galula, and assistant manager Craig Bellamy.

Well-travelled ex forward Bellamy, who played for seven clubs in the Premier League, was a teammate of Kompany's at Manchester City.

He first worked with him at Anderlecht before joining him at Burnley and becoming a key part of his set-up.

But Bellamy and Kompany coaching the likes of Harry Kane, Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala is boggling the minds of many.

One fan wrote: "Craig Bellamy is about to become an assistant coach at Bayern Munich. Surely the most Football Manager thing to happen in actual football this year."

A second said: "Craig Bellamy as an assistant coach of Bayern Munich. I’m living in a simulation."

A third added: "Vincent Kompany and Craig Bellamy managing Bayern Munich what multiverse are we living in."

Another commented: "Craig Bellamy is about to be an assistant manager for Bayern Munich."

A fifth weighed in: "I cannot believe Craig Bellamy will be the assistant manager at Bayern Munich. Insane. I really have no idea how this will turn out."

A final person was left baffled, posting: "Sorry. Vincent Kompany, Craig Bellamy, and former Shrewsbury Town defender Mike Jackson are going to be in charge of Bayern Munich. Have I woken up in an alternative dimension."

After a stunning promotion season in 2022/23, Kompany's Burnley finished 19th back in the Premier League after winning just five games.

But he still clearly has plenty of admirers and is now set to make a huge step up with Germany's biggest club.
