Sergio Ramos notched the 118th goal of his career against Eibar last weekend and it's an insane record for a defender.

The Real Madrid captain has always had an eye for goal and he netted his side's second of the game on Sunday after a lovely counter attack.

It's well known that the 34-year-old is efficient from the penalty spot and he has a knack for scoring important goals - most famously an injury time equaliser in the 2014 Champions League final.

He has also become the highest scoring defender in La Liga history, tying Fernando Hierro's record of 67.

What is truly astonishing is that Ramos has scored more goals than Liverpool's entire defence plus midfielder Fabinho combined.

Of course Ramos' career has spanned 16 years at this point, but managing to have scored more goals than five defenders combined is still impressive.

2020 has been a low-scoring year so far for Madrid and Ramos is actually the club's top goalscorer this calendar year, with three goals so far.

When it comes to elite attackers in Europe however, Ramos also manages to outrank them.

Check out a list of players below, past and present, that Ramos has managed to score more goals than in his career per Transfermarkt.

Gabriel Jesus - 109 career goals

Xavi - 90 career goals

Andres Iniesta - 85 career goals

Paul Pogba - 75 career goals

Serge Gnabry - 67 career goals

At international level, Ramos' goal record is even more impressive as his 21 goals for Spain rank him above some of the game's legendary stars.

David Beckham - 17 goals (England)

Philippe Coutinho - 17 goals (Brazil)

Franck Ribéry - 16 goals (France)

Carlos Tevez - 13 goals (Argentina)

Francesco Totti - 9 goals (Italy)

Every team in the world would love a defender that chips in with as many goals as Ramos.
