Lionel Messi has scored his 644th Barcelona goal and overtaken Pele's record for most at a single club.

The Argentine maestro lined up against Real Valladolid this evening having equalled the record in a 2-2 draw with Valencia at the weekend.

Barca raced to a 2-0 lead in the first half through Clement Lenglet and Martin Braithwaite, but the second half was saved for Messi.

Pedri flicked the ball through to Messi who took a touch before coolly slotting past the goalkeeper with his left foot.

Messi looked delighted as his Blaugrana teammates ran across to celebrate the momentous occassion.

It is his 451st La Liga goal in total and fans have reacted to the record that will likely never be matched.

It's a significant date for Messi, who was celebrating the anniversary of his incredible 2012 when he scored 91 goals in one calendar year.

One of the all-time greats.
