England vs Spain lineup leaked as Thomas Tuchel makes 'surprise' call

England's lineup for their Nations League clash against Spain has been leaked, and Thomas Tuchel has made a 'surprise' call.

In their first of four matches during the three-week international break, England host world champions Spain at Wembley Stadium

It's the Three Lions' first outing since being knocked out of the World Cup semi-finals by Argentina in July, and it appears Tuchel is prepared to experiment with his starting lineup.

England vs Spain lineup leaked as Jordan Pickford dropped

Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett revealed on X that Tuchel has dropped Jordan Pickford to the bench and replaced him with Leeds United shot-stopper James Trafford.

Pickford has been almost ever-present for England since Gareth Southgate was in charge, but Trafford - who has been immense following his £40million transfer to Leeds - is lined up as the Everton man's successor.

Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen's Jarell Quansah is expected to start at right-back ahead of Real Madrid's Trent Alexander-Arnold. Quansah featured regularly for Tuchel during the summer showpiece, and although he impressed at times, his tournament will be remembered for that red card against Mexico in the Azteca.

Myles Lewis-Skelly is also set to be included in the lineup. The Arsenal youngster has been used as a central midfielder this term, but is naturally a left-back, with the 20-year-old showcasing his versatility under Mikel Arteta.

Thomas Tuchel questions Cole Palmer's commitment to England

Five players withdrew from the England squad for the September/October internationals, including Cole Palmer, Declan Rice, Marcus Rashford, Kobbie Mainoo and Tino Livramento.

Palmer's reason for withdrawing was a minor groin injury and discomfort, which prompted Tuchel to question his commitment to the national team.

"He misses too many opportunities, and I don’t blame him for it, it’s just the fact," the German said in his pre-match press conference. "He misses way too many camps with injuries and I only want to rely on what I personally witness and what I see within my team. And for that, you have to be in camp.”

During the summer, Tuchel controversially left the Chelsea superstar out of his squad for the World Cup, with many questioning that decision.

Although the 24-year-old was coming off the back of a poor season with the Blues, his star quality was something England could have used, particularly in their huge match against Argentina.

Nonetheless, Palmer has since made a flying start to the Premier League campaign with two goals and two assists in his opening five games.

A key fixture of his fast start has been his close relationship with Morgan Rogers, who has hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge since joining for £117million from Aston Villa.

The pair have linked up with devastating effect alongside Joao Pedro, and when asked about his England teammate, Palmer said: "I think we're two different players. He's more physical, more powerful and stuff, and I'm more technical and whatnot.

"I just told him [when he joined] that he'll make a big difference. We're signing other players as well, so we're going to have a good team and we can do something good."

Chelsea return to action against Bournemouth on October 10.
