Cole Palmer has reacted to a reporter teasing England teammate Anthony Gordon at a Euro 2024 press conference.

The knockout stages of the 2024 European Championships gets underway on Saturday, with defending champions Italy facing Switzerland in the first of the round of 16 clashes.

Despite drawing two of their three group games, England qualified for the next round and will face Slovakia at 5pm BST on Sunday in the Arena AufSchalke, Gelsenkirchen.

Ahead of the match, Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon addressed the media on Friday, a day after the winger fell off a bike, grazing his face and arms.

And, after a reporter from the Daily Mail was seen jokingly handing Gordon a bike helmet and a set of stabilisers, his England teammate Cole Palmer couldn’t hold in his laughter.

Reacting to the gifts, Gordon said: “You’ve had me on as soon as I walked in!

“I had one of these [bike helmet] on but that didn’t help me.”

Chelsea superstar Palmer stood behind Gordon during the exchange and can be seen looking curiously over to see what the gifts were.

And as soon as he spots the stabilisers, Palmer broke out in laughter, teasing his England teammate for the embarrassing moment.

Speaking about his crash in the press conference, Gordon said: “I was going down a hill trying to take a quick video for my family just to show them what I was doing and before I knew it, I was face first into the floor.

“I have a few grazes here but it’s only a few cuts, it’s not painful”

He revealed that confusion over the electric bike’s breaks, combined with the speed that the vehicle can get to, is what caused the crash.

“I tried to press the left [brake] just to slow and then next minute, it’s not slowed down it’s fully come to a stop, and I haven’t, I’ve gone ten feet in the air,” Gordon added.

The 23-year-old managed to get himself up and finish the bike ride, before heading back to the England camp to have his minor injuries checked over.
