The 2022 Qatar World Cup is just around the corner and England fans will be hoping Gareth Southgate and his team can finally bring football home again.

The Three Lions have come tantalisingly close to lifting the trophy in their last two major tournaments.

They reached the semi-final of the 2018 World Cup in France, and suffered a heartbreaking loss against Italy on penalties in the delayed Euro 2020 final last summer.

This year the England will undoubtedly be hoping to go one step further and lift their first international trophy in 56 years.

This will be the first time that they have faced their neighbours from across the pond in a competitive tournament since 2010, where they drew 1-1 in the World Cup in South Africa.

The USA finished their qualifying cycle with seven wins, three losses and four draws - a set of results that saw them secure one of CONCACAF’s three automatic berths, along with neighbours Canada and Mexico.

Although England will be heavy favourites heading into their second group match against the Americans, Gareth Southgate will need to find a way to turn around his side’s run of recent bad form.

Their last four Nation League games include two defeats to Hungary and draws against Germany and Italy, but England will be hoping they can find their spark again and pick up three points against the latter two teams in the upcoming international break.

Here is everything you need to know about the Group B World Cup match between England and the USA.
