Arsenal Make Final Contract Offer To Eddie Nketiah, And It Will Be Difficult To Turn Down

Following an impressive end to the season for the 22-year-old striker, Arsenal offer an improved contract in the hopes that he will stay.

Eddie Nketiah, the England U21 and Arsenal striker who at times was deemed surplus to requirements for the Gunners, has hit fine form of late. From 8 starts in the league this season he has bagged 5 goals and 1 assist.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s January departure to Spain left a gaping weakness in the North London outfit, and led to Nketiah’s 2nd half of the season form to be much appreciated around the Emirates. So much so, that Arsenal have put a new and improved contract on the table in the hope of convincing the 22 year old to stay, whilst simultaneously waving off interest from West Ham, Crystal Palace and other potential suitors.

Recently, much of the North London talk around strikers has been revolving around the possibility of new arrivals, with Gabriel Jesus and Victor Osimhen high up on the Arsenal agenda. However, despite this, the board have made it clear that Nketiah is still very much in Arteta’s plans.

The Mail Online have reported that a much improved final contract offer has been tabled for Nketiah to sign, with the club keen on holding on to the striker who finished the season as first choice and is also out of contract next month.

It remains to be seen whether Nketiah and Arsenal will reach an agreement. However, if the contract is signed it will be interesting to see how a new arrival in the form of either Jesus or Osimhen will affect his playing time. With the World Cup fast approaching, surely it has to be a concern for the Nketiah, with the striker hoping to be on the plane to Qatar with either England or Ghana in November.
