Cristiano Ronaldo Willing To Take 30% Pay Cut To Force Move

The Manchester United forward wants to leave the club due to the lack of Champions League football at Old Trafford next season.

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly touting his client out to other clubs at a hugely reduced rate from his current wages.

It's been nearly three weeks since Ronaldo told Manchester United that he wanted to leave the club, on the eve of their return to pre season training.

However, it's not been easy for the 37-year-old to find somewhere to go, so right now it looks like he'll still be at Old Trafford come the start of the Premier League campaign.

PSG, Bayern and Chelsea have already reportedly turned down the five time Ballon d'Or winner, with Atletico Madrid the latest team to be linked with him.

Diego Simeone's team would struggle to afford his wages but, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs, they won't have to pay his current wages.

His report says Mendes is making sure clubs are aware that his wages shouldn't put them off as he's willing to take a 30% wage cut, although that would still mean at least £300,000-a-week.

Ronaldo's desire to leave comes from his desperation to play in the Champions League, which he can't get at United in the upcoming campaign.

It's not like he hasn't known that since at very latest May, but he also wants to challenge for other major titles, which he clearly doesn't think his team's transfer window has given him the chance to do.

The former Real Madrid star doesn't want to be the player that any club rely on for all their output, in order to conserve himself in the late part of his career.

United are currently having to find other ways to score without Ronaldo, whilst on tour in Thailand and Australia, and it's going pretty well.

Anthony Martial has scored three in three games in pre season and the Frenchman has been well backed to win the league's Golden Boot award in the upcoming season.

Ronaldo may hate the idea of staying but he might have to if one Atleti fan's opinion on his club signing the Portugal star is heeded by the club.

Then when he decided to stay he might find that Martial has overtaken him in Erik ten Hag's pecking order, then he won't need to worry about being relied on...
