More Bets Placed On Manchester United To Win The Premier League Than Anyone Else

Manchester United to win the league is the bet everyone wants to make following their win over Liverpool in a pre season friendly.

Manchester United's pre season form has led to more fans backing them to win the Premier League than Manchester City and Liverpool combined.

United were dreadful in the latter part of last season and finished 13 points short of fourth place Tottenham Hotspur, and a whopping 35 off the title race.

However, there is now some optimism from fans with the arrival of Erik ten Hag, as the former Ajax manager attempts to turn fortunes around at Old Trafford.

United have looked pretty good in pre season, with the win over Crystal Palace, thanks in part to Harry Maguire's excellent display, taking them to three wins from three.

Their first win was a 4-0 tonking of Premier League runners up Liverpool and that result has changed the perception of their title hopes, with more fans backing Ten Hag's side to win the title than any other.

According to Betfair, 27% of all bets on the title winners since the game in Thailand a week ago have gone on United, with 11% on Manchester City and just 7.4% on Liverpool.

United remain the fifth favourites for the league, with Betfair, as City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs still remain ahead of them in the betting.

Those better odds, coupled with the form, is exactly why people are backing them more regularly than the two outright favourites.

Spurs under Antonio Conte have been the second most backed club in the past week on 22.5% of the share of bets, with Chelsea level with City.

After them come Arsenal and then it's down to West Ham and Newcastle United, despite the latter's new super wealth in the transfer window.

Anthony Martial's form, with his third goal in three coming against Palace in a wonderful move, has also seen him be well backed to win the league golden boot.

The Frenchman struggled on loan in Sevilla last season but he could be very important to Ten Hag, if Cristiano Ronaldo manages to force his way out of the club.

Ronaldo clearly wants to leave United but the options for him are beginning to run out, with fans of Atletico Madrid unhappy they're the latest to be linked with him.
