Cristiano Ronaldo curls in fine effort for Al-Nassr to keep his side's title hopes alive

Cristiano Ronaldo scored from the edge of the box to help keep Al-Nassr's title hopes alive.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a fine goal as Al-Nassr beat Al-Shabab in a close-fought game in the Saudi Pro League on Tuesday.

The forward curled an effort in from the edge of the box to put his side 3-2 ahead after they had trailed 2-0 with just a few games remaining in the season.

Al-Shabab took the lead against Ronaldo's side in the 25th minute when Cristian Guanca netted a penalty, and the forward doubled the lead just before half time with the hosts' title hopes looking to be all but over.

They bounced back, however, when Talisca, netted a minute before the break to send Ronaldo and Co into half time with some hope.

The half time team talk clearly worked, with Abdulrahman Ghareeb squaring things up before the break and making Al-Nassr favourites to go on and win the game.

Ronaldo himself then stepped forward just before the hour mark to curl in his effort and send his teammates and the home fans wild and on their way to a 3-2 win.

The former Manchester United man picked the ball up around 30 yards from goal and fended off a challenge from Al-Shabab full-back Fawaz Ali Marzouq Al Saqour Al Yami.

He then fended off another defender before curling his strike past Kim Seung-gyu to put his side ahead and net his 14th goal for Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo's side have hopes of winning the Saudi Pro League title, but are chasing Al-Ittihad, who are also won on Tuesday, beating Al-Batin 1-0.

There are now just two games remaining for each side in the season, with Al-Nassr trailing their rivals by three points with an equal goal difference but more goals scored.

Ronaldo fans will be hoping the leaders slip up in at least one of their two remaining matches. They still have to face 12th-place Al Feiha and eighth-place Al-Ta'ee, while Ronaldo and his side will take on 10th-place Ettifaq before also facing Al Fateh.
