Jose Enrique Calls For Liverpool To Sign Premier League Star On A Free Transfer

Jose Enrique has called Christian Eriksen the perfect 'short-term solution' in midfield.

Christian Eriksen is a free agent this summer, and Jose Enrique believes his former club Liverpool should make a move for the Dane.

Enrique, who has established something of a cult hero status since leaving Liverpool, stated on Instagram that Eriksen would be a fantastic ‘short-term solution’ in midfield for Liverpool.

The Reds have recently spent big on Darwin Nuñez and could look to save some money on a midfield recruit by signing Eriksen.

Eriksen enjoyed a fine spell with Brentford last season, reminding everyone of his star qualities upon his return to the Premier League.

Many were left heart warmed after watching him given the difficulties he went through last summer with his cardiac arrest during EURO 2020.

However, after doing so well at Brentford, the Dane reportedly wants bigger and better things. Manchester United and Tottenham are said to hold an interest in the playmaker.

No reports as of yet suggest Liverpool are actively looking at signing the 30-year-old.

Enrique is right though; it would be a smart deal from the Reds if they were to pull it off. The Anfield club’s top target in the engine room is believed to be Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham who would cost Liverpool anywhere up to £100 million.

Signing Eriksen on a free would enable Klopp’s side to preserve their resources and go for a big name midfielder next summer.

It’s a deal which would make sense economically more than anything. Granted, Eriksen has shown he is still a top-class footballer. But as Enrique says, he would be nothing more than a ‘short-term solution’ for Jürgen Klopp who is looking to add some offensive inspiration to his midfield.

Liverpool would be wise to follow their former left-back’s advice and make a move for Eriksen. Nonetheless, no media reports are yet to suggest the Reds are interested in the player, and this is a signing Liverpool are therefore unlikely to make this summer.
