Jordi Alba left fuming by Barcelona plotting Inter Milan deal behind his back

Jordi Alba left fuming by Barcelona plotting Inter Milan deal behind his back

The Spanish left back was left furious by his club’s actions on transfer deadline day.

Jordi Alba is reportedly furious with Barcelona after they negotiated a deadline day exit for the full back without telling him.

According to Catalan news outlet CCMA, the club tried to plot a last minute move for Alba to join Italian Serie A side Inter Milan behind the player’s back.

Barcelona attempted to shift Alba out of the door at the Camp Nou in order to free up a space on the wage bill in preparation for the arrival of Marcos Alonso

It was reported that Barcelona actually agreed to loan Alba to Inter for the remainder of the 22/23 season.

However, Alba, who has been a Barcelona player for more than 10 years, refused to leave. The 33-year-old is believed to be furious at the club’s attempts to move him on without him giving the go ahead.

Alba was set to meet with manager Xavi to discuss his future but according to journalist Javi Miguel, Alba was so adamant that he was going to stay put, the meeting ended up being called off.

During his time with Barcelona, Alba got his hands on five La Liga and Copa del Ray titles, whilst also winning three Spanish Super Cups and one Champions League trophy.

Alba was also part of the Spain squad that won the Euro in 2012.

As a result of his refusal, Alba is now one of three left backs in the Barcelona squad, along with Alejandro Balde and new signing Alonso

Alonso joined the Catalan giants as part of the £10 million deal that saw striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang make a stunning return to the Premier League and reunite with Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea

The 33-year-old Gabon international signed a two year deal at Stamford Bridge on transfer deadline day.

Upon signing for the Blues, Aubameyang expressed his delight.

He told the club’s official website: “I’m really happy. It’s an honour to be part of this team and I can’t wait to start.

“I have some unfinished business with the Premier League so it’s good to be back and really exciting.”

Whilst club chairman, Todd Boehly said: “Pierre-Emerick is an elite striker with a proven track record in the Premier League and his arrival strengthens our squad, giving us new attacking options.

“We are thrilled to have Pierre-Emerick on board with us in the new era at Chelsea and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”

Aubameyang could potentially make his Chelsea debut in front of the Stamford Bridge crowd this Saturday as the Blues take on West Ham in a London derby.
