Arsenal supporters have praised Aaron Ramsdale for making Ethan Nwaneri's record-breaking debut an even more memorable experience. Watch the video below.

Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history on Sunday when he was brought on as a late substitute in Arsenal’s 3-0 win away at Brentford.

Making his senior debut for the club aged just 15 years and 181 days, Nwaneri beat the previous record held by Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott – who made his Premier League debut for Fulham in 2019 aged 16 years and 30 days.

Arsenal's travelling supporters were understandably jubilant at the end of the match after seeing their side regain top spot in the Premier League, with the Gunners now one point clear of defending champions Manchester City and bitter rivals Tottenham.

After full-time, Arsenal's players went across to the away end to thank the fans for their support.

A clip, which has circulated on social media, shows the Arsenal supporters initially singing a chant for midfielder Granit Xhaka, who helped set up Gabriel Jesus for the Gunners' second goal of the afternoon.

A understandably shy Nwaneri can be seen applauding the fans while standing behind Xhaka.

Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale speaks to Nwaneri and then pushes him towards the Arsenal fans, who begin to cheer the youngster while his teammate Gabriel Martinelli helps lead the applause.

The memorable moment capped an unforgettable afternoon for Nwaneri, who was born in 2007 – a year after Arsenal had moved to the Emirates.

Arsenal fans have praised Ramsdale for allowing Nwaneri the spotlight after the final whistle.

"It's the way Ramsdale pushed him for me," wrote one supporter on Twitter.

Another added: "Ramsdale, playing the big brother role. Love it."

Speaking after the match, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta explained his decision to bring Nwaneri on.

"It was a pure gut feeling. I met the boy, I really liked what I saw. Obviously Per [Mertesacker] and the academy staff gave me really good information about him as well," said Arteta.

"I met him, he's trained a couple of times with us as well. Yesterday he had to come because we had the injuries, especially to Martin [Odegaard], and then I had that feeling from yesterday that if the opportunity could come, that I was going to do it, and I just done it."
