Al Nassr’s first game since Cristiano Ronaldo signed for the club is OFF

Al Nassr’s first game since Cristiano Ronaldo signed for the club is OFF

The club have made a statement.

Al Nassr's first Saudi Pro League game since the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo is off, a club statement has confirmed.

Ronaldo put pen to paper on a mega-money deal with the Saudi Arabian outfit earlier this week. The five-time Ballon d'Or winner took part in a press conference at Mrsool Park before being presented on the pitch.

On Thursday evening local time, Al Nassr were set to return to action against Al Ta'ee. The game has now been pushed back to Friday due to the weather impacting the stadium's electricity.

A message from Al Nassr's Twitter account reads: "Due to heavy rain and weather conditions impacting the stadium's electricity, we have been officially informed that tonight's match against Al Ta'ee is postponed for 24 hours.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused to fans and wish everyone safe travels."

It was unknown if Ronaldo would play any part in the game. The 37-year-old was charged with improper conduct by the FA after he appeared to slap an Everton fan's phone out of his hand following Manchester United's 1-0 defeat to Everton back in April.

Ronaldo was handed a £50,000 fine and two-match ban, although he didn't serve the ban before leaving the Premier League in November. It had been suggested Ronaldo could 'defy' the ban at risk of further punishment, although there was no official word on the matter.

The Portugal international told journalists his career in Europe is 'over' during Tuesday's unveiling.

Ronaldo stressed he'd done everything he set out to achieve across two spells with Manchester United plus time at Sporting CP, Real Madrid and Juventus.

He admitted: "I’m so proud to make this decision in my life and football. For me it’s a new challenge I’m glad Al Nassr gave me this new opportunity.

"The welcome yesterday was amazing for me and my family and I’m already proud. When I take my decisions, my family always support me, especially my kids. I want to change the mentality of the new generation.

"I am so proud at making this big decision in my life and my career. My work in Europe is done. I played for all the most important clubs."

Ronaldo scored 24 goals in all competitions for United last season but fell out of favour under manager Erik ten Hag this term.

He scored three goals, only one of those coming in the Premier League. The forward slammed ten Hag during a controversial interview with Piers Morgan, which saw his contract terminated via mutual consent eight days later.
