McLaren star Oscar Piastri has spoken about a Formula 1 racing detail that fans don't see on TV.
Piastri, 24, endured a tough end to the 2025 campaign after he saw his lead at the top of the world championship standings evaporate.
Back in August, Piastri looked nailed on to win his first-ever world title as he had a healthy lead over Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.
However, a poor run of form saw him drop to third place, with Norris winning the world championship ahead of Verstappen by just two points.

Looking ahead to 2026, Piastri has recently spoken about the importance of team radio during a Grand Prix.
Although it is something we often hear on live broadcasts, Piastri has stated that there is a lot more going on behind the scenes that fans don't see on TV.
The 24-year-old spoke about the importance of how and when to deliver the right messages in order to make sure every decision is made correctly. He also stated that he and his race engineer would be in conversation a lot more than what is shown on the live broadcasts.

The Australian said to McLaren: "Alright, speaking on the radio. Important thing number one, you want the right information; you want enough information that you can make the right decisions in the race, choose when to pit, and get a good idea of what's happening in the race. But you obviously don't need to know every single detail that's going on.
"So, knowing what is important and what's not for your race engineer to communicate with you - that's an important discussion, and also the timing of it."
Piastri continued: "You don't want everything on one lap, you need it kind of, spread out. Timing of the lap is also important, you dont want it in the middle of a fast corner or a technical area.
"One other thing is that we also talk a lot more than what you see or hear on TV. Obviously, you hear the good bits or the exciting bits. But, there's a lot more conversation that goes on around that but the main ones you guys see on TV, but there is a lot more going on behind the scenes."
The 2026 F1 season will begin in March with Piastri's home race, the Australian Grand Prix, which will take place around Albert Park in Melbourne.
