Oscar Piastri Demands Major F1 Rule Change Ahead of Qatar Grand Prix

Oscar Piastri is looking to overhaul Lando Norris in the race to become Formula 1 world champion.

McLaren star Oscar Piastri has called for a Formula 1 rule change just days before this weekend's Qatar Grand Prix.

For large parts of the 2025 season, it looked like Piastri would win his maiden F1 world title after he managed to earn a healthy lead over rivals Lando Norris and Max Verstappen.

However, a disastrous run since the summer break has completely turned the Australian's season upside down.

With just two races left to run in 2025, Piastri currently trails Norris by 24 points and is tied with Verstappen.

During last weekend's Las Vegas Grand Prix, Piastri finished in fourth place before being disqualified along with teammate Norris due to excessive skid block wear.

At the start of the race, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls driver Liam Lawson collided with Piastri at Turn 1, but managed to avoid any punishment from the stewards.

Speaking about the move, Piastri said: "Ambitious, that's for sure. But apparently okay.

"So, obviously, I think we'll probably be talking about that one next week in our meeting. But that made things tough and a few more difficult moments..."

Now, looking ahead to the Qatar Grand Prix, Piastri has reportedly urged the FIA to make some tweaks to the sport's regulations, with a meeting between drivers and F1's governing body set to take place this weekend.

As per Racing News 365, Piastri has called for tweaks to be made to the guidelines.

The 24-year-old said: "Obviously, the guidelines came in place from the drivers, and I think for the large majority of incidents, it's been very helpful.

"But, clearly, there's some tweaking that needs to be done, because I think the balance and potentially people gaming the rules a little bit — there's been a few incidents that I don't think are really what we want to see in racing."

Piastri added: "So I'm sure we'll discuss it and be better as a sport, moving forward."
