Formula 1 fans have been reacting on social media after Oscar Piastri was asked about Lando Norris live on Australian TV.

During the 2025 season, Piastri and Norris were locked in a tense battle to become the F1 world champion.

Although McLaren's Paya Rules were in play, the pair still managed to collide in Canada, Singapore and Austin.

In the end, Piastri finished third in the standings, with Norris taking the world title after finishing two points ahead of Max Verstappen.

During the latter part of the 2025 campaign, McLaren were often accused of favouring Norris ahead of Piastri, a claim the team has consistently denied.

On Saturday, Piastri was spotted at the Melbourne Cricket Ground as he watched Australia vs England in the fourth Ashes Test.

During an interview with Australian media Channel 7, Piastri was asked about Norris.

The reporter asked: "Now, it’s just you and me. Is Lando a mate of yours? Good bloke?"

In response, Piastri laughed and said: "No, he’s good, he’s good. We get on well. We work together well. But yeah, I think we’re going to be battling each other hopefully for championships for many years to come."

Reacting on social media, one fan said: "Imagine you’re out watching your cricket team lose and they’re asking you about your teammate who beat you at your sport."

Another tweeted: "Is Lando good bloke ?????"

A third fan added: "He thought he escaped these questions once the season ended, like again, what do they expect him to say?"

Someone else wrote: "No matter how toxic people’s agendas are, i know they always have a soft spot for each other."

A fifth commented: "What did she expect him to say?"

Speaking about the battle he had with Piastri, Norris was full of praise for his teammate.

The 26-year-old said: "Oscar the whole way since round one, I knew he was probably going to be the toughest guy to beat and then you can never count out Max, he's Max.

"For me to have those fights against him and enjoy those moments, maybe not always enjoy them but some of them, but just to share the track and fight against another world champion like him and certainly Oscar as well, who will be a world champion."
