Barcelona prepared to issue ultimate humiliation to Marcus Rashford as Man Utd star makes shock Carrington appearance

Marcus Rashford continues to be linked with a move away from Manchester United.

Barcelona are reportedly ready to deal what would be a brutal blow to Marcus Rashford's chances of joining the Catalan club.

After impressing on loan at Aston Villa during the second half of the 24/25 season, Rashford has been linked with a move away from United.

So far, the likes of Villa, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and clubs in Saudi Arabia have shown interest in the 27-year-old.

However, Villa decided last month not to trigger their £40 million option to sign Rashford.

As a result of Villa's snub, it has been claimed that Rashford would like to join Barcelona.

According to Italian news outlet Di Marzio, Barcelona are one of Rashford's suitors and his representatives have been in talks with the La Liga champions.

However, it has been stated that Barcelona would like to do a loan deal to aid their financial difficulties.

In addition, the report suggested that Rashford's chances of joining Barcelona could be hampered by manager Hansi Flick's interest in Alejandro Garnacho. The Catalans would be open to signing the Argentine as an alternative if the Red Devils are willing to let the 21-year-old leave on a loan deal.

Garnacho has also been linked with a move away from Old Trafford and was recently slammed by United fans after posting a picture of himself wearing a Villa shirt with Rashford's name on the back.

On Tuesday, The Athletic reported that despite being given extra time to find a new club, Rashford returned for pre-season training.

Journalist Mark Critchley wrote on social media: "Marcus Rashford reported back for training on Monday and Tuesday despite being given extra time away to find new club

"Rashford trained on individual basis at Carrington and did not take part in team training with rest of Ruben Amorim’s squad."

To further add salt to Rashford's wounds, it was recently confirmed that new signing Matheus Cunha had been handed the Englishman's number 10 shirt ahead of the new campaign.

In a statement, United said: "Matheus Cunha will wear the no.10 shirt as a Manchester United player. Cunha was the no.10 at Wolves last season, when he scored 15 goals in 33 games after succeeding Daniel Podence.

"The number is a famous one in his native Brazil, having been synonymous with several of the country's biggest stars."
