Real Madrid star who played in PSG defeat reaches agreement to leave club straight after the game

The player in question will now move onto pastures new after the FIFA Club World Cup loss.

A big Real Madrid star who played for the Spanish giants in the loss to Paris Saint-Germain will now leave the club to join his new team.

Xabi Alonso's side have been in FIFA Club World Cup action over the summer in the United States and reached the semi-final stage, where they faced new European champions PSG.

However, the 2024 Champions League winners crashed out at the hands of the 2025 champions with a 4-0 victory for the Parc des Princes outfit.

Alonso's men were stunned inside 24 minutes after PSG netted three goals though a brace from Fabian Ruiz and Ousmane Dembele's effort, which was added to as full-time approached by Goncalo Ramos as Los Blancos were humbled.

Efforts for the Spanish giants will now turn to the upcoming La Liga campaign and reclaiming the title back from El Clasico rivals Barcelona.

Alonso made several changes in the second half, with Vinicius Jnr being replaced by Braham Diaz, Dani Carvajal coming on from Gonzalo Garcia and Eder Militao replacing Raul Asencio.

And England midfielder Jude Bellingham came off for 2018 Ballon d'Or winner Luka Modric.

The veteran Croatian midfielder has been at the Santiago Bernabeu since 2012 when he made the switch from Tottenham Hotspur for around £30m.

And he has gone on to become a legend for Madrid after winning a host of silverware.

Modric has amassed almost 600 appearances for Los Blancos and netted 43 goals in all competitions.

He has won four La Liga titles, two Copa del Reys, five Supercopa de Espana crowns, six Champions Leagues, five UEFA Super Cups and five FIFA Club World Cups.

However, it was already confirmed that Modric would be departing the Spanish giants after the end of their Club World Cup campaign, which has now arrived with the loss to PSG.

Speaking in May about the departure, Modric said: "I arrived in 2012 with the hope of wearing the jersey of the best team in the world and the ambition to do great things, but I couldn't have imagined what came next,.

"Playing for Real Madrid changed my life as a footballer and as a person.

"I'm proud to have been part of one of the most successful eras of the best club in history."

And he will now make the move to Serie A to join Italian giants AC Milan.

New boss Massimiliano Allegri, who has returned to the San Siro side for a second spell in charge, has already confirmed that Modric will arrive at the club next month.

He said: "Modric will arrive in August. He is an extraordinary player."
