Riyad Mahrez has hilariously responded to Manchester City supporters on Twitter on Saturday afternoon.

Mahrez penned a new two-year contract with the Premier League Champions on Friday.

The Algerian has extended his stay at the Etihad Stadium until 2025, with the 31 year-olds previous contract due to expire in 2023.

Mahrez moved to Manchester City from Leicester City in 2018, for a then club-record £60 million fee.

The 31 year-old has become integral to Pep Guardiola's squad, playing a particularly key role in the UEFA Champions League.

A new deal until 2025 comes off the back of another impressive campaign from the Algerian, who finished as City's top goalscorer for a second consecutive year.

City ramp up preparations for their latest campaign this week, with the majority of Guardiola's squad travelling to the USA for a pre-season tour.

The Sky Blues departed for Houston on Saturday afternoon, and as pictures emerged of the players boarding a plane for the United States, numerous City supporters quickly picked up on a minor detail involving Riyad Mahrez.

The Algerian himself joked about the issue, with the 31 year-old pictured holding a smashed iPhone.

One supporter joked, 'Mahrez you have the money,' with the City forward hilariously replying, 'Was waiting for the new contract'.

The skilful winger's new deal was announced on Friday, the second contract extension to be announced by the club.

The two new contracts adds to an impressive summer for the Blues, who have already added Erling Haaland, Julian Alvarez, Kalvin Phillips and Stefan Ortega to Guardiola's squad.

City travel to the USA for two friendlies.

The first takes place on Wednesday against Mexican side Club America at the NRG Stadium in Texas.
