Manchester City take on Borussia Dortmund in their second Champions League group-stage clash of the campaign on Wednesday evening.

Pep Guardiola's men produced a dominating display from start to finish in their opening European game of the season in a stylish 4-0 victory against Sevilla last week.

Goals from Phil Foden, Ruben Dias and a brace from man-of-the-moment Erling Haaland did the damage for Pep Guardiola's men as Manuel Akanji made his debut from off at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium.

Guardiola confirmed in his press conference on Tuesday that Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte will not feature against Dortmund.

Walker remains on the sidelines after being hauled off in Manchester City's latest league outing against Aston Villa, missing the trip to Seville last week.

The England international faces a race against time to be involved in City's lunchtime kick-off clash away at Wolves on Saturday.

Laporte has finally made his long-awaited return to full training after undergoing surgery on his knee and is expected to be back in action after the upcoming international break.

On Laporte and how the Spaniard has looked on his return, Guardiola said: "Training session yesterday (Monday) was partial, today (Tuesday) complete. I spoke with the doctor, he needs a little more volume on his leg but in general - he's going well."

John Stones trained with the squad on Tuesday after being a shock exclusion from City's travelling squad to face Sevilla last week.

Dortmund are dealing with a long list of absentees and will be looking to return to winning ways after suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga at the weekend.
