On August 26th, 2017, inside a sold out T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the unbeaten Floyd Mayweather extended his perfect record to 50-0 when he defeated Conor McGregor inside 10 rounds.

It was an outcome that came as no surprise to many fight fans who predicted a win for 'Money' Mayweather.

But despite doubts over his in-ring ability, including those who claimed he wouldn't even land a single punch, Conor McGregor proved his critics wrong.

The Irish fighter landed a total of 111 punches against Floyd Mayweather - 30 more than the amount eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao threw in 2015.

Not only did McGregor land 30 more punches than Manny Pacquiao, but he also did it in two fewer rounds.

According to stats from Boxing Scene, McGregor was able to land more power punches than Pacquiao landed in total.

Not bad for a guy who came up against an undefeated world champion in his first ever professional boxing match.

Speaking about his competitor after the fight. Mayweather was complimentary towards his opponent.

"He is a tough competitor and I thought we gave the fans what they wanted to see. He is a lot better than I thought he was, he used different angles and was a tough competitor but I was the better man tonight.

"Our game-plan was to take our time, let him shoot all his heavy shots early on and then take him down at the end, down the stretch.

"We know in the MMA he fights 25 minutes real hard and after that he starts to slow down.

"I guaranteed this fight wouldn't go the distance. A win is a win."

Meanwhile, McGregor expressed his frustration at the fight being stopped: "I had a bit of fun over on this side. Hopefully I entertained the fans on this. I thought it was close, though.

"And I thought it was a little early of a stoppage. I get like that when I'm tired. I get a little wobbly and flowy. But get me into the corner and I'd have recovered and come back.

"I'd have liked to hit the floor. There's a lot on the line here, [the ref] should have let me keep going, I thought.

"No one's taking these kinds of risks. So, fuck it, lay into me all you want. I'll take it on the chin. I'll take it wrapped around the neck on live TV. It's another day for me."
