Boxer storms out of ring as he suffers ‘robbery’ in British title fight according to Tyson Fury

Throughout the history of boxing, there have been controversial decisions, from Roy Jones Jr. in the 1988 Olympic final to Amir Khan retaining his title over Paul McCloskey.

Now, it appears, at least to Tyson Fury, that there has been another major controversy in the world of boxing, this time during a British title fight.

Daniel Dubois defended his WBO heavyweight world title against Fabio Wardley, in a second-round victory as the Ipswich man’s team threw in the towel, but arguably the story of the night came on the undercard.

Tyson Fury believes there was a ‘robbery’ in British title fight

Fury is preparing to fight Anthony Joshua at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff for the WBA world heavyweight championship after Oleksandr Usyk vacated the belt.

While this may be Fury’s primary focus, he was keeping a keen eye on the Dubois and Wardley clash, as he may be facing the WBO heavyweight world champion next year should he beat Joshua.

However, he spoke of a ‘robbery’ on the undercard, as Michael Gomez Jr. drew with Louie O'Doherty despite Fury believing the former had won 10 of the 12 rounds.

Speaking on Instagram, Fury said: “He only lost two rounds and he won 10 and they've give him a draw. That is a bad robbery that. F**king hell. How in the world did you give it a draw? You robbed a lad of his title. Boxing's f**ked up man. Can't leave it to the judges."

This draw means that O’Doherty retained his British and Commonwealth lightweight titles.

Gomez Jr. was furious with the decision, and before it could even be announced, he had stormed out of the ring in anger.

Standing on the edge of the ring, O’Doherty managed to convince him to return but his frustration was evident for all to see.

It now means that he may call for a rematch to claim what he believes should already be his after this fight with O’Doherty, but now he will have to go toe-to-toe with him once again.

Daniel Dubois retains his WBO heavyweight title

The 29-year-old made easy work of Wardley as within the opening seconds he had the referee counting him down from 10.

Wardley never truly recovered, and while he lasted the first round, it was evident for all to see that this early landing from Dubois had a lasting impact.

Then, after a further two minutes and 20 seconds, Wardley's team threw in the towel as they could see the writing was on the wall.

It was deemed the correct decision by those in the commentary box, including Carl Frampton, who believed that they were right to give it a go in the second round but subsequently, with an eye on the health of their fighter, ensure he would be fit to fight another day.

Now, Dubois is expected to fight Filip Hrgovic, the current IBF heavyweight champion, as the Croatian joined the Brit in the ring after the fight.
