Paul Gallen Says He Wants To Fight TWO Queensland Legends In One Mental Night

Legendary footy player-turned-boxer Paul Gallen has confirmed his next fight will involve an unprecedented two opponents on the same night against former Queensland stars. 

The former Blues player has made a string of top billing fights since swapping the footy for a pair of gloves and boasts a record of 12 wins and two losses.

He recently challenged for the Australasian heavyweight championship in a losing effort to Kris Terzievski and hinted toward boxing retirement following the defeat.

If he is moving toward hanging up the gloves, then his final card will be a huge one with Gallen clearly wanting to capture some of that State of Origin magic.

Former Queensland star Justin Hodges, who has a boxing record of 6-1, is expected to be one of the two opponents with the second yet to be confirmed.

Gallen confirmed the plans to Wide World of Sport, saying: “The way he's been carrying on lately I presume he (Hodges) would be one of them.

"The other one I'm not sure - it's going to be a footy player, though, it's not going to be Justis Huni.

"Pretty sure it's going to be in Queensland... I'm hoping it's going to be (against) two Queenslanders. Get a bit of an Origin feel about it.

"I'd say it will be six or eight three-minute rounds, and two opponents will do half each. That's what I think it will be.

"It's really only one fight, just two opponents."

According to FoxSports Australia, the negotiations for the unique fight are closing to completion, with former footy stars Hannant, Sam Thaiday, Russell Parker, and Chris Walker on the shortlist.

Gallen has previously spoken of his desire to face Hodges in the ring after battling it out on the footy pitch many times in the past.

He recently told FoxSports: “It would be good fun.

“I’d punch the piss out of him, that’s for sure. I did play a lot of test matches with him and he wasn’t a bad bloke, but he was one of those blokes who you’d just love to punch in the face.

“To be able to do that legally, it would be pretty cool.”

Despite the murmurings of a retirement fans will be hoping Gallen will sneak in that highly sought-after bout against Sonny Bill Williams before he calls it quits.
