Dana White reveals major problem for UFC White House event that he doesn't know how to solve

The White House is proving to be a thorn in UFC's side, as a rose bush is attracting thousands of pesky guests

Celebrating the 250th anniversary of American independence, the UFC is set to become the first-ever sporting event held at the White House, but after checking out the location, Dana White immediately has production scrambling to solve a major issue.

Typically, the octagon is the cornucopia of a fan-packed arena, with beaming lights showcasing every bead of sweat and drop of blood splashed across the canvas.

But UFC Freedom 250 is flipping the script and will be held open-air on the South Lawn of the White House on June 14.

Moving the fighting outside seems to be a much bigger issue than Dana White could have anticipated, though, as he reveals President Trump's new rose bushes have attracted thousands of unwanted spectators: bugs.

Dana White says UFC White House event has a bug infestation

With the card offering up some tantalising scraps on the Presidential lawn, the planning for such an unprecedented event has already thrown up some funny quirks.

New logistical issues surrounding security have broken long-standing traditions, with competitors starting their walkouts from the Oval Office.

But with Trump erecting a stand and enough viewing space for '100,000 guests', its the open air and insects that are proving to be the thorn in Dana White's side.

Speaking on a podcast with Boardroom, White revealed that he recently met with Trump at the Office and scouted the area out, only to be swarmed with bugs.

"President Trump just opened the Rose Garden two nights ago and he invited me to dinner there," White began.

"The amount of gnats that were flying around… I’m like “Holy sh*t…”

"As soon as I got on the plane, I called my Head of Production and said, 'Yeah, let me tell you about the gnat situation tonight...'"

Not only could it prove to be uncomfortable for the special guests in the crowd, but Dana White suggests that it could even be an issue for the fighters.

Although you'd guess one hook would be enough to swat tens of flyinf insects in one go, the producer said that there could be an issue if they are flying in the UFC star's faces and distracting them, especially when one tiny lapse can be enough for an opponent to land devastating blows.

"So when you’re a fighter, think about that lighting grid, the amount of power in the lights… moths, gnats, and God knows what else.

"These are all the little details that we have to think about. That’s why I don’t like fighting outside. Ever."

Host Rich Kleiman relayed the story of the New York Yankees' famous defeat in 2007 where Joba Chamberlain was swarmed by gnats in the bottom of the eighth inning and dropped a catch that would have tied the game, allowing the Cleveland Indians to win.

White revealed that they are investigating the issue and possibly adding head-height fans that would blow the bugs off course.

The UFC Freedom 250 card is set to be one of the most spectacular shows of all time, if everything goes swimmingly.
