Canelo Alvarez has walked out to a 150-member mariachi band for his first fight in Mexico in over a decade.
Mexico’s biggest modern star returned home to defend his undisputed super middleweight championship against John Ryder.
And what a reception it was.
He walked out at Estadio Akron in Guadalajara with a mariachi band playing him in absolutely wild scenes.
With a crown donned upon his head and fireworks going off over the stadium, Canelo truly felt like the king of Mexico as he walked out.

It was one of the most incredible entrances in boxing history, one befitting of the moment.
It’s a rare moment of a global superstar to return to fight in his home country after going out and dominating the world of boxing.
It’s just his second fight since suffering only his second-ever loss against Dmitry Bivol back in May 2022.
John Ryder is the WBO interim super-middleweight champion after capturing the title at The O2 Arena in London.
The ring was packed with Canelo’s team holding up his titles, with Mexican flags seen waved across the oceans of fans.
His British opponent was certainly in enemy territory.
The fight is ongoing.
