Canelo Alvarez may be on the cusp of the biggest fight purse of his career but he has already revealed that his kids will not inherit his riches.
The Mexican takes on the undefeated Terence Crawford in a a huge undisputed super middleweight title fight at the Allegiant Stadium on Las Vegas on Saturday night.
The bout, which also sees the winner presented with a £140,000 Ring Magazine belt, is being shown live around the world on Netflix and promoted by Dana White's Zuffa Boxing.
It is expected to be the third-largest gate in boxing history and Turki Alalshikh, the Saudi boxing matchmaker, has already confirmed that Alvarez, in his second fight of a four-bout deal with Riyadh Season, will earn more than $100 million.
The fee will add to Canelo's reported £540 million career earnings and £220 million net worth, as per Celebrity Net Worth.
Canelo has four children: Emily, Mia, María and Saul - and one would assume that they now live more than comfortable because of their famous father's incredible feats in boxing.
However, the 63-2 fighter does not see it like that. In an interview with Miguel Gurwitz, as per 25MedioTiempo, Alvarez revealed he adopts a similar approach to NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal and believes the money belongs to him and not them.

"They don't ask me about money, but if they asked me, 'Is it my money?' I would say no, it's not yours.
"You lack nothing, you have the opportunities to do whatever you want, but the money is mine, only mine. I am giving you the foundations so that you can make your own money. But the money isn't yours, it's mine. I give you the tools so that you can create your own wealth, your own story, with tools that I did not have."
Canelo could get six-figure knockout bonus
Canelo's overall pay-out for his mammoth match-up with Crawford could be even higher thanks to an unprecedented bonus implemented.
Back in June, Turki Alalshikh expressed frustrations with "Tom and Jerry fights" where opponents were running around the ring and announced that Canelo-Crawford would usher in a new "knockout bonus" incentive.

"Performance bonus that night is going to be over six figures," he said.
"We're still talking about it but it's going to be a big number, whoever wins the performance bonus of the night that night."
Neither Canelo or Crawford have been knocked down in their career, while the latter's last finish came against Caleb Plant in 2021.
