Ahead of his upcoming fight, Canelo Alvarez was asked by a fan to get his wife pregnant, and the boxing legend's reaction is hilarious.

Canelo returns to the boxing ring for the second time this year on Saturday as he defends his Super Middleweight belts in a bout against Edgar Berlanga.

The Mexican is a heavy favourite heading into the fight, as many expect him to add another win to his impressive 61-2 professional record.

But ahead of the fight, Canelo had a hilarious interaction with one fan who wants the boxer to get his wife pregnant.

During a pre-fight press event with a live crowd, Canelo was told by the event host: "The crowd absolutely loves you, one guy in the back said he would let you get his wife pregnant, they're die hard for you."

The 34-year-old was taken aback but laughs before jokingly replying: "He's smart!"

His response is immediately met with laughter from the host and the crowd, before dismissing his opponent's claims that he will knock the champion out within six rounds.

The Puerto Rican challenger heads into the fight with an unbeaten record of 22 wins and zero losses, with 17 of his victories coming via knockout.

But the build-up to the fight hasn't all been laughs for Canelo, who has recently been part of an online dispute with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, who claims the champion is dodging difficult fights with boxers like Terrence Crawford.

Posting on X, Alalshikh wrote: "As for the way I do business, I know why he [Canelo] doesn't like it, because I only target big fights at fair prices, so of course anyone who likes easy fights won't like that.

"And I know how he feels after losing to Bivol, so he's been looking for easier fights ever since. Also, I'm not the one who's afraid of fighting Benavidez or Crawford.

"Therefore, I knew he was wasting our time and making excuses with big amounts of money that can't be paid.

So I'm continuing my way to make big fights that serve the boxing world, and he's on his way to making easy show-only fights.🤷🏻‍♂️🥊"
