Jake Paul Punching Stats Revealed After Anthony Joshua Loss

The Problem Child sustained a sixth-round knockout against AJ in Miami.

The punching statistics from Jake Paul’s fight against Anthony Joshua have emerged and make for interesting reading.

As expected, former two-time unified world heavyweight champion Joshua secured victory over Paul, but the Brit arguably had a tougher evening than many anticipated.

The American avoided AJ’s punches for most of the fight until the bigger man’s power finally showed when he knocked his opponent down twice in round five.

Then, in round six, Joshua finally finished the fight, landing a brutal right hand, leaving Paul dazed as he fell to the canvas before being unable to beat the referee’s count.

The Problem Child has since revealed that he sustained a double broken jaw during the clash, but this did not deter him from calling out Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez on social media.

And despite losing convincingly, several members of the boxing community have voiced their respect for Paul after many predicted an early stoppage for AJ rather than the bout reaching the sixth round.

Paul clearly came in with a game plan to avoid Joshua rather than stand toe-to-toe and exchange blows, but he did have limited success according to Compubox’s records.

In round one, both fighters landed just two punches each, with Paul throwing ten while Joshua attempted 11.

Then in round two, AJ upped the tempo, landing four of his 26 attempted punches while Paul landed a single blow despite attempting six shots.

Paul threw even fewer shots in round three, with the American successfully landing three of his five attempts. Joshua landed seven blows from 25 attempts in the third round.

But round four saw limited success again for both fighters, with Paul landing five of 13 blows, with Joshua landing just four of 19 attempts, with a success rate of just 21.2 percent.

Round five was when Joshua really found his rhythm, knocking Paul down twice as he landed 20 of 45 shots thrown, with 14 of the successful shots classed as ‘power punches’.

Meanwhile, Paul landed five of 16 attempted shots with four classed as ‘power punches’.

In the sixth and final round, Paul did not lay a glove on Joshua despite attempting six punches. In the same round, AJ secured the stoppage and landed 11 shots from 20 attempts, with eight of the successful blows classed as ‘power punches’.

Overall, Joshua landed 34 ‘power punches’ from 79 attempts while Paul landed just nine from 22 attempts.

So what's next for Paul and Joshua?

Well, despite teasing a fight against Canelo, Paul will be sidelined due to his double jaw break, and after the fight he also said that he would be taking a break from boxing after “going hard for six years”.

As for Joshua, he has been heavily linked with an all-British showdown against Tyson Fury in 2026, whom he called out after last night’s fight.

“If Tyson Fury is as serious as he thinks he is, and he wants to put down his Twitter fingers and put on some gloves and come and fight one of the realest fighters out there that will take on any challenge, step into the ring with me next if you’re a real bad boy,” Joshua said.

“Don’t do all that talking, ‘AJ this, AJ that’. Let’s see you in the ring and talk with your fists.”
