A former boxing world champion has given his approval a potential fight with popular influencer IShowSpeed, on one condition.

Since the first pay-per-view influencer boxing event headlined by KSI v Logan Paul in Manchester's AO Arena, the scene has only grown more and more.

With Misfits boxing hosting events across the UK throughout the year while Jake Paul continues to fight huge names like Mike Tyson, Tommy Fury and Nate Diaz in the USA, the audience for influencer boxing is massive.

Of course, with such a massive audience, comes massive pay days, with some influencers earning as much $20m (£15.3m) for their fights.

But there is one man who that fans have been begging to step into the boxing ring, IShowSpeed, and he may be given a shot at a former world champion.

Although Speed, real name Darren Watkins, has competed inside the WWE ring on several occasions, he is yet to make his debut at a boxing event, despite teasing it in the past.

But former two-weight world champion Carl Frampton could be prepared to offer the popular streamer a shot, if the money is right.

When asked if he would take a fight with an influencer while speaking on the Business of Sport podcast, the Northern Irishman said: "It depends what the money is, there's always a number isn't there?"

As podcast host Harry Stebbings suggests £5m, Frampton replies: "100%. Yeah absolutely, that's the sort of money that's knocking around these sort of influencer fights."

After some discussion on potential opponents, the boxing legend settles on his opponent, stating: "IShowSpeed. He might beat me, he's very fast!"

Earlier in the episode Frampton speaks about the influencer boxing scene more generally, admitting that he admires it and believes it to be positive for the sport of boxing, despite what some of his peers say.

"I think it helps boxing and I know boxers that say it will harm it but it's just bringing in a completely new audience, Jake Paul fans who would never have watched a a fight in their lives," Frampton claimed.

"They may never go and sit down to watch two flyweights fighting at York Hall, but there may be a few that crossover, and I think it helps boxing.

"I think that there are maybe some guys that are a little bit jealous, legitimate world class fighters who are having a little bit of jealousy about this guy from Disney Channel coming in and taking over the sport."
