Reported Arsenal target Levi Colwill is likely to leave Chelsea this summer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Arsenal's interest in the defender was first reported in May by Nizaar Kinsella of GOAL.

The 19-year-old centre-back spent last season on loan at Huddersfield Town in the Championship.

He was expected to join the Chelsea squad this season but Chelsea are looking to restock in the centre-back position.

Kalidou Koulibaly is expected to join Thomas Tuchel's team after a fee was agreed.

A deal for Manchester City's Nathan Ake isn't thought to be far away either.

Last night, news broke that Chelsea are also keen on bringing a third centre-back to the club, in Presnel Kimpembe.

Romano reports that Colwill is likely to leave on a permanent deal this summer, as Chelsea work to sign three centre-backs.

In a further comment on the story, Romano reported:

"Southampton are also in the race to sign Levi Colwill, as many clubs are showing interest - waiting to negotiate with Chelsea as soon as possible."

"Colwill's future will depend on Ake/Kimpembe deals, he could leave if Boehly will sign three centre-backs."

Colwill is a highly rated left-footed centre-back. He is versatile, and also can cover left-back.

Arsenal look to be missing out on Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United.

The Argentine was seen by Mikel Arteta and Arsenal as a left-back who could also cover left centre-back.

Colwill could present a cheaper alternative.

However, the question remains whether Chelsea would sell to a rival club in Arsenal.

Arsenal finished five points behind Chelsea last season and will likely be looking to progress up the table. Colwill would certainly improve the Gunners.

Another question would surround game-time. If Colwill is willing to leave Chelsea, it is for game-time.

At Arsenal, it is likely he would get more, with Europa League, Cup competitions and the reasonably high possibility of an injury to Kieran Tierney.

However, at a club such as Leicester City, Southampton, or Crystal Palace, who have all shown interest, he would undoubtedly receive more.

Arsenal are not finished with their business this summer, and are still looking to sign players to flesh out their squad ahead of what beckons to be an intense season.
