Arsenal Linked Defender Aaron Hickey Could Be Set To Leave Bologna

Arsenal Linked Defender Aaron Hickey Could Be Set To Leave Bologna

Hickey has been linked with Arsenal this summer.

Bologna defender Aaron Hickey has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League this summer, and it's believed that Arsenal are behind Brentford in the race for his signature.

The Scotland international has impressed since joining the Rossoblu at left back, and due to his versatility is being lined up by Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal have had big success with the signing of Takehiro Tomiyasu, who since joining from Bologna has become a fan favourite at right back and is seemingly the undisputed choice in that position.

Hickey, who looks set to leave Bologna this summer is gaining interest from not just Arsenal, but also Brentford.

The Bees had a stellar first season in the Premier League and under Thomas Frank will hope to become a mainstay of England's top division with new signings like Hickey.

Bologna director Marco Di Vaio admitted at a press conference, as reported by Football Italia, that Hickey could leave this summer.

“It could be, he is one of those we could sacrifice, but if we don’t receive adequate offers, he’ll likely stay for another year,” he said.

“We have a good potential to do well and earn more than 50 points. We must be good at financing new signings and finding new players. If we make the right moves, we’ll be able to replace them and keep all the others.”

Should Hickey join either side, he will face competition from Kieran Tierney at Arsenal, and the impressive Rico Henry at Brentford.

With Arsenal back in European competition this summer, Arteta and Edu are looking for far more depth than they had to contend with last season, so hickey will not be short of chances in the first team.
