WWE fans left baffled as superstar signs new contract despite not being shown on TV for over a year

The WWE superstar's last televised match was in April 2024 but he has been handed a new deal.

Amidst a raft of releases and departures, WWE have handed a new deal to a superstar who hasn't been seen on television in more than a year.

There have been a total of 38 exits in WWE in 2025, varying from wrestlers, hosts and managers.

R-Truth was a shock name on the chopping block after he was told his contract was not getting renewed but the unprecedented demand for the popular superstar caused the company to perform a shock u-turn and bring him back on his own terms after he attacked John Cena.

Anyone suffering from injury or not being featured prominently on WWE programming is always at risk of being released or informed their deal will not be getting renewed.

But despite being absent from any WWE storylines and fading into obscurity. WWE superstar Omos will not be moving on anytime soon.

The 7ft 3 monster's last televised appearance was when he competed in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal on Smackdown back in April 2024, but he has revealed he has signed a new contract with the company.

“Things are going very well," Omos told Gaming Industry News.

“I can’t complain. I’m really excited about what is to come.

"I’ve been training really hard and working on some new things and I think it’s going to be a really fun ride ahead, especially because I just signed a renewal with WWE and will be there for years to come!”

A former basketball player, Omos signed with WWE in 2019 and after a number of different roles, he became AJ Styles' personal bodyguard and won the tag team titles in his in-ring TV debut at WrestleMania 37.

The Undertaker has demanded WWE find a big role for Omos

He has had high-profile matches with Brock Lesnar, Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman and Seth Rollins but was recently sent to Japan to work for Pro Wrestling Noah while still being under WWE contract.

Omos captured the GHC Tag Team Championship while teaming with Jack Morris before vacating the title shortly after and announcing his return to WWE in January.

The Nigerian is yet to appear on WWE television in any capacity since then but his contract extension would suggest Paul 'Triple H' Levesque and the WWE top brass still have plans for the giant.

Such plans would satisfy WWE legend The Undertaker, who is a huge fan of Omos and compared him to the late Andre the Giant was he praised his ability.

"He’s a walking, breathing, living, attraction," Undertaker said on his Six Feet Under podcast.

"And I could see him coming in as a heel, and then something happened and him being just an ultra, mega, worldwide babyface.

“He doesn’t have to work every week. That’s the thing. He doesn’t have to work on TV every week. What he can do, and he’s willing to do because he loves the industry and loves everything that comes with that. As an active competitor, he could be a global ambassador for the sport.

"Like, Andre was the face of wrestling long before the Hogans and anybody else came along. Andre was the face of wrestling. What better - I mean, you can’t think of a better person. If you want somebody to go out and represent your brand around the world, somebody 7’4”, 400 pound, intelligent human being with tons of personality.”
