The main event at WrestleMania 40 was one for the ages, although WWE fans were left with one major complaint.

WrestleMania ended in spectacular fashion on Sunday evening, as a whole host of legends crashed party to produce one of the greatest spectacles in WWE history.

Cody Rhodes beat Roman Reigns under Bloodline Rules to take the Universal Championship belt, ending Reigns' incredible four year stint as undisputed universal champion.

However, as The Rock teased during his press conference on Saturday, the two men weren't the only rivals to make an appearance in the grand finale at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Rock, John Cena, The Undertaker, Seth Rollins and Solo Sikoa all got involved in the match, producing several moments that will go down in WWE history.

Sikoa, a member of The Bloodline, hit a Samoan Spike on Rhodes before Cena burst into the squared circle, taking out Reigns with an Attitude Adjustment.

Cena then did the same to Sikoa, putting him through a table, before The Rock appeared and starred him down.

The Rock, who won Saturday night's tag-team match alongside Reigns, dodged Cena's punch before hitting him with a stunning Rock Bottom.

With the Philadelphia crowd already in a frenzy, things went into overdrive when the lights dimmed and the gong sounded, signalling The Undertaker's entrance and return to WrestleMania.

The Undertaker appearing behind The Rock before Chokeslamming him will go down as an iconic WWE moment, but fans were left disappointed that one legendary wrestler did not make an appearance.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin retired in 2003, but after he returned for WrestleMania 38 in 2022, fans thought another appearance might be on the cards.

"Don't lie y'all thought stone cold was gonna come out," one fan wrote on X, while another said, "Me thinking that stone cold was gonna come in and hit the rock with a stunner."

One disappointed fan tweeted "No Stone Cold..." with a video of The Rock shouting: "Are you f****** kidding me?"

Another fan used the gif of Pablo Escobar sitting alone on a swing alongside the caption, "Me tomorrow wondering why they couldn’t get Stone Cold to stun The Rock at WrestleMania."
