Donald Trump reportedly had his lawyers inspect his contract while working with WWE to ensure that one thing could never happen to him while on TV.

Trump, a long-time friend of Vince McMahon, was brought into the WWE in 2007 to be involved a WrestleMania programme.

Trump, represented by Bobby Lashley, and McMahon, represented by Umaga, would contest a 'Battle of the Billionaires' match at The Show of Shows, where the losing billionaire would have their head shaved live on TV.

Lashley pinned Umaga to win the match, with McMahon having the indignity of having his head shaved off by Trump, Lashley and long-time foe and special guest referee, 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin.

Two years later, in 2009, McMahon announced that, in storyline, he had sold Raw to a 'mystery buyer' - that buyer being Trump.

The future US President would return to WWE programming briefly as part of the storyline, but that was his last involvement in the company to date barring his induction into the Hall of Fame in 2013.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the now 78-year-old told his lawyers to ensure that one thing never happened to him while he was working with WWE.

Trump only agreed to the WrestleMania 23 match as long as he would not have his head shaved 'under [any] circumstances'.

It is claimed that this extended to 'even if Mr Trump's wrestler dropped dead in the ring'.

WWE's board found in 2022 that McMahon and his family had paid $5 million to Trump's charitable foundation, the Donald J. Trump Foundation, in return for his appearances in the WWE. The foundation is now defunct.

During an appearance on The Undertaker's 'Six Feet Under' podcast prior to last year's presidential election, Trump looked back on the 'Billionaire vs Billionaire' match.

"That was great, with Vince and me," he began. "We each had our wrestler. He had Umaga, we had two good guys and they wrestled. Fortunately, my guy won.

"The loser had their hair shaved. I said, 'I don't want to have my hair shaved'. We actually wrestled a bit.

"It was a big one. You [Undertaker] went down just before, and the entrance into the ring is the greatest in any arena I've seen. The music, the whole thing.

"You left just before us, and the place was going crazy. I said, 'That's a very tough act to follow'."
