One of Vince McMahon's final decisions in charge of World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has been revealed following his shock retirement.

McMahon confirmed on Friday that he will step down as chief executive and chairman of WWE, with the announcement coming amid an ongoing investigation into alleged misconduct against the 76-year-old.

One of his final decisions as WWE supremo came during this week's episode of Friday Night Smackdown.

During the show, Maxxine Dupri – the new identity of former NXT star Sofia Cromwell – debuted as part of the Maximum Male Models team.

But there was no sign of her brother Max Dupri, real name Shaun Ricker.

According to PWTorch, Max Dupri will be no part of the faction moving forwards, with Maxxine essentially replacing him as the leader of the group.

It is claimed McMahon made the decision to write Dupri, formerly known as LA Knight, out of the storyline as he was "rubbing people up the wrong way" and did not fit with the rest of the group.

The report claims the change was made "weeks ago" by McMahon and is likely to have been one of his final decisions in his former role as WWE's Head of Creative.

McMahon first bought WWE in 1982 and transformed the company into a highly lucrative, global entertainment giant.

His daughter, Stephanie McMahon, stepped in as WWE's interim chairwoman last month and is now set to continue in the role on a permanent basis.

She will also act as co-chief executive along with WWE president Nick Khan.

Announcing his retirement, McMahon made no mention of the allegations against him but reiterated his support for WWE – confirming he will remain the company's majority shareholder.

At 77, time for me to retire.
Thank you, WWE Universe.
Then. Now. Forever. Together. #WWE #thankful

"As I approach 77 years old, I feel it's time for me to retire as chairman and CEO of WWE. Throughout the years, it's been a privilege to help WWE bring you joy, inspire you, thrill you, surprise you, and always entertain you," he said.

"I am extremely confident in the continued success of WWE, and I leave our company in the capable hands of an extraordinary group of superstars, employees, and executives.

"As the majority shareholder, I will continue to support WWE in any way I can."

In a separate tweet, he posted: "At 77, time for me to retire. Thank you, WWE Universe. Then. Now. Forever. Together. #WWE #thankful."
