Breaking: Christian Eriksen Has Verbally Agreed To Join Manchester United

Christian Eriksen has reportedly communicated to Manchester United that he wants to join the club.

Christian Eriksen has reportedly verbally agreed to join Manchester United this summer on a free transfer, according to the latest reports.

Eriksen has been a major target for Erik ten Hag as the Dutchman looks to rebuild a club that has been taking a nosedive for a decade, and sees the Danish midfielder as a vital addition to the squad.

Signing for Brentford in January after Inter Milan had to let the player go due to heart problems suffered in the EUROs last summer, Eriksen has lit up the Premier League with multiple stellar performances for the Bees.

According to David Ornstein of the Athletic, Eriksen has now expressed a desire to join the Dutchman at Old Trafford for the coming season.

Manchester United have reportedly offered the player a three year contract, and Eriksen has communicated that he wishes to take up this offer.

Eriksen has plenty of Premier League experience previously to playing for Brentford, as he became a main man for Tottenham Hotspur after signing for the club after Gareth Bale left for a world-record fee to Real Madrid in 2013.

Eriksen’s performances earned the highest recognition under former Manchester United managerial target Mauricio Pochettinho, where he once scored against Manchester United just 11 seconds into a match back in January 2018.

He left the North London outfit in 2020 after falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho and joined Inter Milan that January, however his health complications meant his contract was eventually terminated due to Serie A rules related to heart problems in professional sport.

After leaving Inter Milan, he trained with the Jong Ajax side, where Erik ten Hag was able to view the player’s performance and dedication to training up close, and was reportedly very impressed with the Dane’s work ethic.

The next step in the process of signing Eriksen once contracts are drafted and agreed is the player’s medical.

There is not expected to be any problems in this regard, however after Eriksen collapsed on the pitch in Euro 2020 after suffering a cardiac arrest he was fitted with a cardioverter-defibrillator, which means the player’s medical will be a significant but manageable hurdle in getting him wearing the red of Manchester.

The news comes out just days after it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to leave the club this summer due to a lack of Champions League football.

Erik ten Hag is keen to make sure that he has enough attacking-minded options within his squad, and Eriksen certainly brings that.

Looking to challenge both Donny van de Beek and Bruno Fernandes for a starting spot, Eriksen has experience throughout the football world, being the captain of his country and playing to the highest of levels across multiple leagues.

The club will likely want to see Eriksen all signed and ready to join before Friday when they jet off to Bangkok to play Liverpool in their first pre-season fixture.

The club have also finalised the signing of young left-back Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord for a reported fee of around €15 million plus add-ons, and are set to announce the signing within the next day or so.

Frenkie de Jong is also a signing that the club will be hoping to complete before the end of the week, however although a fixed fee of around The news comes out just days after it was reported that Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to leave the club this summer due to a lack of Champions League football.
