Ajax’s New Asking Price For Antony Is At Least €20 Million HIGHER Than Manchester United’s Latest Offer

Ajax’s New Asking Price For Antony Is At Least €20 Million HIGHER Than Manchester United’s Latest Offer

According to reports from Brazil, Ajax have set a high price tag for Manchester United and Erik ten Hag target Antony.

Following Manchester United’s heavy interest in Ajax forward Antony, the Amsterdam based side have reportedly set their price tag for the Brazilian winger.

According to a report from Goal BR, Ajax have made it clear that if United wish to sign Antony, they will have to spend €80 million.

The report notes that this is approximately €20 million higher than United’s opening offer for the 22-year-old winger, with the Manchester side previously offering just over €60 million, in an attempt to secure the forward’s services.

Despite United’s clear intentions to reunite new boss Erik ten Hag with Antony, the Dutch side have remained resolute that they will not be bullied into a sale.

Ajax have spent £77 million so far this window, but have still done all they can to keep hold of several key assets. Earlier this window the side were able to keep hold of Jurrien Timber, something they would like to replicate for the time being with Antony. The Brazilian winger's current contract with the club runs until the summer of 2025.

Ajax have already made several sales so far this window, with high-profile players Sebastien Haller, Ryan Gravenberch, Andre Onana, Noussair Mazraoui, and Lisandro Martinez all leaving the club, with the latter joining United.

As a result of these departures, Ajax now believe it is vital to keep what remains of their current squad intact, in a bid to give new coach Alfred Schreuder the best chance of success.

It should also be noted that despite the report from Goal BR indicating that Ajax would be willing to accept a €80 million bid for Antony, reports in England suggest this may not be the case.

Writing earlier this week, The Athletic’s Laurie Whitwell stated that the Dutch side have told United that they would like to receive €100 million to sell their talented winger.

Due to the high price tag Ajax have set for Antony, the report noted that United had all but ruled out a move for the winger for the time being.

United’s need for additional forward options has only been made more vital following the ongoing Cristiano Ronaldo saga so far this window.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has reportedly made it clear several times that he wishes to leave Manchester United for a second time. With latest reports indicating that Ronaldo has ‘his heart set’ on a move to Atletico Madrid.

Despite Ronaldo being keen on a move United are not, as a result of this, a swap deal may be the only possible outcome that benefits both sides. This is due to Atletico’s poor financial position as of late.

If Ronaldo is to leave the club United will need to see improved performances from the rest of their frontline in comparison to last season. Luckily for the Red Devils, both Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford have impressed in their pre-season appearances.

Anthony Martial scored three goals in pre-season against Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace, while Rashford also netted against Melbourne Victory and Palace.

Jadon Sancho is another forward who has excelled in Antony's favoured right-wing position, scoring three goals against Liverpool, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa.

Manchester United are set to face Brighton & Hove Albion on the opening weekend of the Premier League season on 7 August, where we could see new signings Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez make their debuts for the club.
