Young Manchester United Star Joins Cristiano Ronaldo In Signing For Jorge Mendes Agency

Young Manchester United Star Joins Cristiano Ronaldo In Signing For Jorge Mendes Agency

Young Manchester United starlet, Shola Shoretire, has joined Jorge Mendes’ agency.

Portuguese super agent, Jorge Mendes, has added young Manchester United star Shola Shoretire to his ranks of clients at his agency.

Shoretire has been developing his reputation at Manchester United over the past couple of years, with the winger touted for a stellar career ahead of him.

Mendes himself is already well established in the world of football, with his agency, Polaris Sport, having high-profile clients such as Cristiano Ronaldo, David de Gea and Bernardo Silva.

It was reported by George Smith of the Manchester Evening News that Shoretire has signed with the Lisbon based agency, becoming one of a number of United players represented by Polaris Sport.

The 18-year-old uploaded a picture of himself and Mendes to his Instagram to confirm his signing with the agency.

The England U19 will be hoping that signing with such a notable agency will kick start his career, after coming through the youth ranks at Old Trafford.

Shoretire made his only Premier League appearance of the season in the final game, coming off the bench for eight minutes in a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace.

Prior to this, Shoretire had made four other appearances for the senior team, with a single appearance in both the Champions League and Europa League, as well as two in the Premier League in the 20/21 season.

Despite limited senior playing time, Shoretire’s remarkable performances in the PL2 for United’s U23 side have developed his reputation both at the club and in the wider footballing world.

He recorded six goals and 8 assists in 21 appearances during the 21/22 season, with this accounting for 31% of United’s goals in the competition.

With the Red already having Jadon Sancho, Anthony Elanga and Amad Diallo in the right wing position, it is unlikely that Shoretire will find himself as a consistent feature in the senior side next season.

This will become even more unlikely if United bring Antony to Old Trafford, with reports of a deal between United and Ajax being close growing.

It is likely therefore that the winger’s new representation will push for a loan move in order to develop his reputation in the game and get the player valuable minutes in senior football.

While there has been little speculation as to where Shoretire could spend time on loan, he could follow in the footsteps of Amad and seek playing time in the Scottish Premiership.

Alternatively, he could develop his trade in the championship, with the championship being the most common loan move for Premier league youngsters. James Garner found success here whilst on loan at Nottingham Forest from United in the 21/22 season, with Forest getting promoted to the Premier League through the play offs under Steve Cooper.

Whilst Shoretire’s future for next season is currently unclear, new representation for Jorge Mendes will certainly help the winger to fulfill his desires, should that be at United or a loan move away from the club.

Shoretire will have time to impress Erik ten Hag during the few weeks ahead of Manchester United’s first pre-season fixture against Liverpool in Bangkok.

Throughout the tour which sees the club visit Thailand, Australia and Norway, Ten Hag shall be assessing his initial thoughts on both the club’s current crop as well as those waiting in the ranks of the U18s and U23s.
