Breaking: Fabrizio Romano confirms €100 million Antony transfer to Manchester United is COMPLETE

Breaking: Fabrizio Romano confirms €100 million Antony transfer to Manchester United is COMPLETE

The deal is finally done.

Manchester United have agreed a deal in principle with Ajax for the transfer of Brazilian winger Antony in a deal worth up to €100 million, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The Italian transfer guru revealed the news on Sunday evening, following reports that the 22-year-old was closing in on the move earlier in the day.

It was said that Antony will move to Old Trafford on a five-year contract, which has the option to extend for a further year.

He will be signing the contract tomorrow, and will then travel to Manchester next week.

This seemingly takes him out of contention to arrive in time for United's trip to Leicester on Thursday and potentially for the weekend clash against Arsenal.

Antony has been desperate for this move all summer.

He even revealed to Romano earlier this week that he told Ajax in February that he was looking in this direction.

Since then it has been an uphill battle for him to leave the club, but United have paid the big fee in order to get Ten Hag his man.

He will bolster United's options in their frontline, especially with Cristiano Ronaldo's future still uncertain going into the final days of the window.

The Brazilian will add to Jadon Sancho, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Elanga as options for the Dutch manager.

Meanwhile, his Ajax coach is largely unhappy with the transfer after he wanted the player to remain in the Eredivisie.

"Nowadays, everything is about money. I find this sad, but this is our world," he told ESPN after Ajax's win on Sunday.

"It's very sad and I don't approve that these things are happening at us."

Antony will be desperate to impress Ten Hag as he enters the Premier League for the very first time.

He registered 10 goals and 12 assists for Ajax last season and already has 2 goals and 2 assists in two games this term.
