What Antony told Fabrizio Romano after Ajax rejected Manchester United's €90 million bid

The Brazilian is not happy with how Ajax have dealt with the situation.

Fabrizio Romano had an exclusive interview with Antony after Ajax rejected Manchester United's €90 million bid for the Brazilian.

The 22-year-old has been desperate for a move to Old Trafford all summer and his wishes were diminished yet again on Friday with United's latest bid being dismissed by the Eredivisie club.

Erik ten Hag is keen to reunite with his former winger and needs depth in his attacking line-up.

Cristiano Ronaldo's future is still uncertain and Anthony Martial has already had injury troubles this term, with the Frenchman ruled out of the Southampton fixture on Saturday.

Antony is a key target for the Reds, but the deal has been very difficult to complete with Ajax determined to keep their star winger.

However, he has came out and spoke about the situation to Italian journalist Romano, where he details his desire to leave the club.

The full video can be viewed below.

When asked about the negotiations for his potential transfer, Antony explained how he had explained his aspiration to leave for months.

"Since February of this year, my agents came to Amsterdam to inform Ajax of my desire to leave the club to face new challenge and that some interested clubs would arrive and with them, certainly a great offer," he began.

"In June of this year, I interrupted my vacation and came personally to inform the managers of Ajax, including new coach, about my wish to leave and that they should consider this possibility, because it was a project for two seasons,

"During the window months, meetings continued and I also received a proposal from Ajax for contract renewal. I made it clear once again: I want to leave."

"I made it clear, I want to leave," Antony expressed. "Today, in a meeting with the club I expressed my old interest in leaving. Only this time with a considerable offer on the table. Other offers already arrived, Ajax always refused.

"Ajax hinders my exit with the argument that they only have 5 days to replace me."

The wide man was then asked why he believes Ajax do not want to let him leave, he explained that he would be helping them with the transfer fee they would be receiving for him.

"I am not asking for them to release me, I am asking Ajax to sell me as the highest bid received by a player who plays in the Eredivisie in history. I have been insisting since February so that the club could rebuild the team with peace of mind and right timing."

It may seem like the relationship between player and club has turned sour, but Antony has reiterated his appreciation for Ajax. He also, however, believes he needs to move on to further his career.

"I was very happy here. I won titles, made friends and build part of my career. but now I reinforce that I am ready and full of motivation to follow my story and my dreams.

"People need to listen and understand my motivation which moves me towards happiness. I need to continue performing at the highest level.

"Ajax will always be in my heart."

There is less than a week left in the transfer market and it seems that Antony will keep pushing for his Old Trafford move.
