Manchester City are reportedly plotting a shock move for an England star who already played for them after Fabrizio Romano dropped a transfer bombshell on Friday evening.

City have been extremely busy in the transfer market with the captures of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Cherki, Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli and Sverre Nypan as they look to bounce back from a disappointing trophyless campaign last season.

But City's business does not appear to be finished, with Romano dropping an interesting development in regards to the club's goalkeeping situation.

In an exclusive piece of news, the Italian revealed on social media that City are considering re-signing James Trafford after his excellent season at Burnley.

In his second campaign with the Clarets, Trafford kept clean 29 clean sheets in 45 games as Burnley returned to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

He was also called up to the England squad in March this year following his fine form, but is still searching for his Three Lions debut.

City have been in contact over a move but will only sanction a transfer if Ederson or Stefan Ortega moves on this summer.

Man City receive surprise offer for goalkeeper

Ederson, City's No.1 goalkeeper since 2017, has been the subject of an extremely low offer from Turkish champions Galatasaray, who are on the hunt for a replacement for Fernando Muslera

French outlet L'Equipe say Galatasaray have bid just €3 million for the Brazilian shotstopper, who is out of contract in 2026.

Ortega's contract also expires next year but speaking at a golf event in Catalonia in June, Guardiola told reporters that "the two goalkeepers we have will continue".

Ederson received an offer from the Saudi Pro League last year but speaking last month, he also stressed that he would not be ending his spell at the Etihad Stadium.

"My head is here," Ederson said on his future, as per ESPN.

"It stays with City. It gives me everything to go back to the Premier League again and try to win the Champions League as well. My mind is staying in the club."

"My future is here. Some friends send me a lot of news but 99% is fake news. I understand you guys [the media].

"You need the news to put a like on social media or rant for the news. I understand, but there's a lot of fake news around my name."

Trafford joined City at the age of 12 and progressed through the ranks but did not make a first-team appearance, instead being loaned out to Accrington Stanley and Bolton before signing for Burnley in a £19 million switch.
