Conor McGregor says he was "very sceptical" of Khabib Nurmagomedov's controversial weigh-in ahead of his fight against Justin Gaethje last year.

The Irishman has also labelled the Russian fighter's behaviour during the weigh-in as "very unusual."

Back in October, Khabib weighed in at 155lbs for his UFC 254 main event against Justin Gaethje but plenty of fans believed he didn't actually make the weight.

Having been the first to weigh, the UFC lightweight champion required a towel and the assistance of two employees as he stripped down before stepping on the scales.

And when his weight was finally announced, the Dagestani fighter let out a huge sigh of relief after another gruelling weight-cut. He held his hands to his face and even did a praying gesture.

Both during and after the incident, some fans pointed out how the bar on the scale hadn't completely moved when the quick weight announcement was made.

Three months later and Conor McGregor has had his say on the weigh-in moment following Khabib's win against Justin Gaethje.

"He's looking like an elephant, he's looking like a little fat elephant," he told The MacLife.

"He's enjoying himself, I don't think he made weight the last time either, I was very sceptical, it was very unusual behaviour."

McGregor has also accused Nurmagomedov of "scurrying away" from a potential rematch.

"How he can walk away at this stage is baffling to me but each to their own, there are so many amazing fights out there." he continued.

"Even the Tony [Ferguson] fight... I don't care about nothing, you're scheduled to fight a man and no matter what the fight must take place.

"You don't scurry away from fights but it's been a hallmark of his career; I was not surprised to see him scurry away."

'Notorious' also admitted that he has to more than win against Poirier to compete for the lightweight belt.

"I feel it should be but I don't think Dana is going to be bouncing in to throw me a belt straight away with the way the year has gone.

"I'm here to compete against good competition and the belts will come, maybe the next bout is fair.

"I would have liked to see it for this fight but there were circumstances around the man scurrying away; they've given him a bit of time."
