Stipe Miocic walked away with over three quarters of a million dollars after beating Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 252 on Saturday night.

The two men fought for the third time in the main event, with the UFC heavyweight title on the line once again, it was an excellent fight but Miocic was the clear winner at the end.

According to Sportekz, the heavyweight champion walked away with $790,000 for winning the fight, with $40,000 promotional bonus added to his basic $750k.

Behind him Cormier earned $530,000 on the night, from his half a million basic and an extra $30,000 promotional bonus, in what he claimed will be his final fight.

Miocic's win, which wasn't without controversy because of the accidental eye poke on Cormier that the referee missed, certainly attracted the attention of some big names.

It took Jon Jones just moments to suggest he was ready to step up in weight to take on the heavyweight GOAT, whilst Francis Ngannou fired back to remind everyone his rematch should be next.

The third highest paid athlete on the night wasn't in the co-main event but instead in the other big heavyweight fight, as Junior dos Santos earned $420k for his night, after missing out on his $100k win bonus.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik beat the former champ but earned an incredible $335,000 less than the Brazilian, with $80k coming from his basic and a further $5 from the promotional fee.

The co-main event saw 'Sugar' Sean O'Malley lose out to Marlon 'Chito' Vera but the formerly unbeaten bantamweight still earned $80,00 but Vera's win bonus meant he earned $135,000.

O'Malley started that fight the better but an unfortunate injury really turned the fight on its head, although Vera had already started getting back into it, before it finished inside the first round with some huge elbows.

Elsewhere on the main card Merab Dvalishvili earned $105k for his win over John Dodson, with the loser picking up $60k for his night's work, and Daniel Pineda went home with $76,800 for beating Herbert Burns, whilst the Brazilian got $24,200, with Pineda earning $2,800 off his opponent after Burns missed weight.

Pineda, Virna Jandiroba, Kai Kamaka III and Tony Kelley all took home Fight of the Night performances.

Next up for UFC is UFC 253 on September 26th with Dana White suggesting the main event between Israel Adesanya and Paulo Costa is likely to be a fight of the year contender.
