Dana White has doubled down on his criticism of Ian Machado Garry following his defeat against Islam Makhachev at UFC 330.
Makhachev beat Garry by unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 48-47) after five rounds of action to defend his light-welterweight title last weekend.
The 34-year-old produced a dominant display in Philadelphia and, in doing so, registered his 17th successive UFC win, breaking Anderson Silva's 13-year record.
He managed seven unanswered takedowns and notched over 12 minutes of control time, cementing his place as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the sport.

Makhachev complimented Garry following his incredible performance, but also questioned his kindness, stating that his opponent gave him too much respect.
"Honestly, I don’t understand, man. This is the fight. This is not something [where] we have to, like, hug each other every round, you know?” said Makhachev.
“We’re going to break the face, break the eye, you know? That’s why I respect all my opponents… [but] he respects too much.
“[Garry told me] ‘I fought today with the greatest fighter.’ I respect him. He’s a good guy, very kind. But this is war, look at my face. I come to beat everybody, [it’s not play].
“This is [a] fight. This is not a game."
UFC president White also echoed Makhachev's words, claiming that the Irishman will look back with deep regret at this fight after looking capable of pulling off an upset.
"Ian is a talented guy. If he had even an ounce of killer instinct… in that fifth round, if he’d have been beating him to body," White admitted.
“Islam’s whole right side was beaten up, his face. You don’t come out and hug, shake hands. That s*** drives me f****** crazy.
“Come out in that fifth round with a flying knee, or something crazy. This is one of those fights Ian will go back and watch and think: ‘I wish I could do that all over again.’
"If he came out and tried to destroy, win that last round with everything he had, it’s a totally different fight."
Dana White doubles down on Ian Machado Garry criticism
White was particularly upset with Garry's affectionate actions at the start of round five.
MMA's most powerful man explained his stance further during the post-fight press conference that followed UFC Sacramento on Saturday night, doubling down on his criticism of the 28-year-old.
"You get this opportunity, you’ve worked your whole life to get there, and you come out in the fifth round after you do all this great work, and you want to come out and start hugging and shaking hands,” White continued.
“Tell him how f—ing great he is when they’re putting the belt on you. It’s just, he might never have that opportunity again. And probably will never get the opportunity at Islam again, who is going to go down as, you know, one of the all-time greats, if not the greatest, by the time he’s done.
“You have five f—ing minutes. Every second of that round counts. Don’t waste ten seconds telling this guy you f—ing love him.”
Garry's lack of killer instinct was his major downfall during his title showdown against Makhachev, and White's words are a telling reminder of where he can improve.
The Irishman will now have a well-earned rest after losing for just the second time in 12 UFC fights.
