Max Verstappen has crashed out of the last-ever race at his home Grand Prix on the second lap, as terrifying on-board footage has emerged.
After qualifying in P7 for the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort, Max Verstappen was hoping to wave goodbye to the famed track in style, which will be dropping out of the circuit after this year.
But the first Formula 1 Grand Prix in a month has been halted after just three minutes as Verstappen crashed into a wall on the second lap.
After holding off an overtake attempt from Liam Lawson a few corners earlier, the reigning world champion locked up and spun into the harsh sandbags just in front of the home crowd.

Now, on-board footage has appeared that shows just how terrifying the crash was.
The Dutchman hit a wet spot on the turn - a result of a downpour of rain following yesterday's Sprint and the qualifying stint, dampening the track before the race today.
A close-up shows his right rear wheel clipping the white line on the edge of the circuit, which started the spin out.
Verstappen exited the car without injury, despite the heavy crash.
"Yeah, that's it, ah s**t, sorry," he said on the team radio, registering his disappointment.
Verstappen has spun out of a few races this year, although most situations have been out of his control.
Back in July, the Dutchman sent a string of X-rated messages down his radio after crashing out of the British Grand Prix, with the new rear wing being heavily scrutinised for causing the car to lose control.
Liam Lawson, who now leads the Red Bull race after substituting back into the first team seat for the injured Isack Hadjar, was the driver directly behind the crash, swerving out of the way to prevent a double-header of catastrophes.
"Is he okay? That was ******* huge," he said on the radio.
Gabriel Bortoleto also locked up in the same corner, just a few car lengths behind, but was able to hold on to a 360-degree spin to regain his place on the track.
For Verstappen, the 112 points that he has earned to put him in sixth place won't be built upon, opening the door to Oscar Piastri behind him, and falling away from Lando Norris above.
The Zandvoort Grand Prix started with Lando Norris in pole position and the Cadillac duo harpooned to the bottom of the standings, similarly resuming the F1 calendar following the summer break.
Elsewhere, Kimi Antonelli sits favourably to be able to extend his championship lead, starting in second.
